Komen:
I haven't been reading any non-fiction books for some time. For this school holiday (2 weeks school break), I planned on doing some readings. Didn't plan on any genre of books, just read. Plus, I still have quite a number of books that are still waiting for me to read. But this one, made me pick this up first. Firstly, I've always been interested in science. Not many books were written about female scientist, so I guess I was being biased. He he he! Second, for the past few months, life had been quite hectic and made me feel down a bit, so much so that even reading novel (which used to be my mode of escapism) would take several days to finish when normally I could have finish reading an average novel (with 200 - 300 pages) within 24 hours. So.... I hope that, since this is only 109 pages, hopefully, it can boost my spirit a bit.
The author descibes her journey to become a physicst, her ups and downs, and hope. Kind of reminding me during my student days in my secondary school and my undergraduate days. Though she faced tougher situations since studying abroad whereas I studied in local unversity, I can relate to that. Going through depression, and coming out of it is truely remarkable. Having good friends surely help a lot.
Travelling does open up our mind since we are exposed to different cultures from where we come from. The working / studying culture and also the community around you. Yes, I gathered much from my friends who had the chance to study or working abroad; and from reading this book. When she said she experienced culture shock when she came back. Talk about Malaysian culture! You gain experience that you will never get from any textbooks. It made me reflect myself. How to improve myself, even though things did not go as you wish. Things that do not kill you, will definitely make you stronger.
Happy reading!
